Hello
I sometimes use SimulationXpress on small metal structures (beams, mechanically welded frames, etc.).
We discover the constraints and displacements, which gives a first approach to the behavior and resistance of the model.
But are there any other elements to be extracted from this application?
Can these results be used to produce calculation notes?
Are there other modules that offer calculation in the standard version of SW or at My Cad?
Thank you!
Hello
There is Simulation (not express) which is the paid and unrestricted version of Xpress (which is only there to make you want to buy given the many limitations of Xpress).
Either as a standalone purchase or as a package in Solidworks Premium (or Ultimate).
That's for the basic simulation part.
Simulation allows you to manage the contacts between parts which already allows you to make calculations on assemblies and to see the incidence of the rigidities of the different parts (we are very rarely totally fixed in real life: this is one of the main limitations of Xpress in addition to the fact that it is a single piece)
Then there is the Simulation Pro and Simulation Premium versions that add things.
Matrix of differences here:
Hello
FYI, the SIMULATION add-in in the PREMIUM version of SolidWorks only does static studies. All other options are inaccessible
Hello
Thank you for this feedback.
To date, my need does not justify a new investment.
I'll try to find other solutions than SW to check my structures.
Have a nice day
Hello
Thank you for this info!
I don't intend to change my version, nor to take any supplements for the moment. But I note it in case I ever decide.
Have a nice day
