EPDM Parallel Collaboration Option

Hello

I'm on SW13, EPDM user, but in the context of a project saved outside the vault and where there are 2 of us working, I wanted to "activate the multi-user environment" in Tools/Options/Collaboration.

My concern, which is rather an inconvenience, is that this option does not want to remain checked, it is removed every time you log in to SolidWorks. Certainly due to the fact that I have the EPDM module. But I can't disable the EPDM (I'll look for the commercial parts there!)

Anyone have an idea to keep this option ticked?

I reformulate:

You log in, activate the option and log out.

When you log in afterwards, the option is unchecked?

I often have options that uncheck themselves, but it's often following a SW crash (except the dynamic highlight)

You can try to do the manipulation in the 2nd line having disabled pdm and to activate it during the next session, to see if it is the one that unchecks.

Hello

I've never tested it but there's a tutorial on Lynkoa, I don't know if you've ever looked at it:

http://www.lynkoa.com/store/fr/tutos-formations/tutos/travail-collaboratif-dans-solidworks.html

A priori you need a server? The option you're talking about that's unchecked is on the server, right?

I just checked in the options of my PC and the option is checked at startup!

@Pascal,

The option unchecks at a normal SW close. Not on a crash. Indeed, during a crash, the changes made to the options are not saved.

You're right, by disabling the EPDM add-in, the option no longer unchecks when SW reboots. So the problem comes from him.

@Lucas PRIOR,

The tutorial doesn't teach me anything new, it doesn't deal with SGDT and even less about EPDM, it dates from 2005.

As for the server, it is only used in the classic way for recording sldxxx. It's just that this option makes it easy to switch the write token from one workstation to another, and alerts if a new save has been made on a read-only item on its workstation. The option is specific to each position.

So there is an incompatibility between EPDM and the collaboration option.

This makes a bit of sense since both manage write rights to files.

I'm afraid there's no solution to the problem, PDM doesn't consider collaborative use of parts out of the trunk.

That is what I fear. as well as "take-away composition" which does not work for EPDM elements. So when you have a "hybrid" assembly there is no simple solution.

Well I'll leave the question open, if others have a solution.

It's weird for the take-away composition, a colleague made one yesterday from an assembly in the PDM trunk and it worked very well. (we are still in 2013)

I remembered that from SW11/12. Or was it a take-home composition to and from EPDM?

Well I'm drifting, if there is a trick to keep my option ticked, I'm all for it!

Hello

With Epdm we don't use solidworks take-away compositions but copies of the epdm tree.

For me it is logical that the option does not activate because epdm is installed and above all activated. So you have to disable the ePDM in the SoldWorks add-ons to have the option that remains checked.

This will not prevent you from looking for libraries in the ePDM vault.

A solution that works: Disable the Enable at Startup checkbox for the 'solidworks enterprise PDM' add-in.

This is the start of this add-in that resets the multi-user options.

On the other hand, you don't have the EPDM tab in solidworks anymore (not necessarily very annoying if you only look for parts in your safe)

Thank you @froussel. Very good idea!
