Shape tool and configuration

Hello

I created a stamping shape tool with its varying dimensions (so far so good).

I wanted to know if it was possible to configure the shape tool function to create my part family in the room?

I tried by first creating my part family and then inserting the tool. But I can just select the conf of the tool I'm going to use in the active conf of the room  (wow, it's making knots in the brain, I hope you followed).

But then I can't configure the next shape tool in the part  family (well there may be a trick but I missed it).

In fact I have to edit the tool function in the room, to choose which tool conf corresponds to the room conf. And by re-selecting the action face. And this on each conf piece.

@opiep27

as you say of the nouds in the head ;-)

if you made a shape and create a family of parts of that shape

so each piece by his side spec

so you have to take the desired shape in your toolbox every time

You can also create a smart component via this tool

If you have a family of parts from the you should have the option to select the one you want

by going to your excel table in the feature manager

It's not easy to follow the answer either....

Here are my steps:

- creation of the shape tool with several confs  (e.g. changing depth, conf A=100, conf B= 150, ...).

- creation of my sheet metal  piece (conf1: prof100; conf2: prof 150...)

- insertion of the shape  tool (conf 1 of the active part), you can choose the conf (A, B, C...) of the tool.

- But then in the table of the part family following conf1, conf 2, I can't get the choice of conf 1, conf B of the tool.

I have to go through each conf 1, conf 2 of the room to select conf A or B (see image)

So compared to gt22's answer, if I understood, I am forced to redo a form tool function and choose deleted or not according to the conf?

Too bad we can't find it in the excel family.

It is quite possible to specify the configurations of the tool according to the configurations of the part (sheet metal), but

It must be specified that the tool configuration corresponds to a sheet metal configuration

@jfaradon: I don't have this menu when I insert a shape tool function. Can you tell me where I find it?

Oh for the record, it's sw12

on SW2012 no shape tool but stamping tool as far as I know ;-)

You can give an example of what you want to do

or post your file I'm under 2012 too

@+ ;-)

@gt22: Here is an ex under SW12. I put the tool and the piece.

@opiep27

shows me a shape tool image dated 2014

at least that's what I see

@gt22: My file is a .rar and it doesn't have an image in it.

I don't know where this image comes from... Lynkoa got hacked?!

I just downloaded the file I put in, and no image in it.

And for the date 2014, it's normal it's an ex that I just did.

I got the wrong capture file!!

Here is the good one that also exists in  2012

Where is this tool of form? at home I don't think?

That's it @ opiep27 I have your part

@jfaradon: I use this tool. But you have to go and edit the shape tool function and finish with the active configuration because it can't be modified like that (i.e. choose a tool for a conf different from the active conf)

But then the choice is not accessible by the room family table. Unless there is an option to activate when creating the family....

See attached image for your room family table

I looked everywhere at least I think I can't find the tool

@gt22: The shape tool is located in: insertion/sheet metal/shape tool

And what should you see on the picture?

The 3 tabs

Creation tree

Property Manager

Configuration Manager This is where your shape tool table is

I see that you have created 3 depths 100.150.200

so there you should if I'm wrong select this tool as you created it

OK thank you I found but impossible to put it in the sheet metal toolbar

I like my toolbar ;-)

@gt22: for the departed family table, I agree, it's where you have circled.

But I don't understand the rest of your answer (and yet it's not Friday! ;-) )

Do you have a shape tool table?

Otherwise, the default toolbar of the sheet metal already has the tool but it's called stamping tool (we're going around in circles since we're going back to one of your first remarks)

you must have in your configur the possibility to change this tool

In the Shape tool function you have a possibility to change the Shape tool

that you have created in your family of pieces

Replacing Shape Tools

After you insert a shape tool into a model, you can replace that shape tool with another one.

  1. In cover.sldprt, in the FeatureManager authoring tree, right-click sample_louver1 and select Replace Shape Tool.
  2. In the dialog box, navigate to dossier_d installation\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2012\design library\forming tools\embosses\extruded hole.sldprt and click Open.

  3. In the PropertyManager, click .

The skylight was replaced by the drilling.

  4. Keep this room open for the next procedure.

Thank you for your help.

I haven't found how to configure it without editing the function.

As this is the solution that jfaradon also gave.
