Hello everyone!
I have a rather annoying problem (especially since I don't understand why SolidWorks is doing this to me), when I open a STEP (of an assembly), SolidWorks opens each part in a window which generates too many windows and crashes the software. I have to go through my colleague who doesn't have this problem and where the step opens directly without opening each part independently. We compared our import options and they are identical... Does anyone have the solution to this problem?
Hello @DoubleL
Which version? I guess your colleague has the same one as you?
Wouldn't this option " import multiple bodies as parts " in import>general be checked in your home?
Note: If " enable 3D interconnect " is checked, these options are grayed out and can be found in " STEP/IGES file format".
Have you checked in the general options and also in the step-related import options? (depending on the 3D interconect case as mentioned by @Sylk )
Personally I unchecked the 3D interconnect all the time (too painful to use)...
…
Depending on the origin of the STEP, also look at the settings on the external Ref side:
or optionally in the " Performance " tab:
I've tried everything but nothing works...
Well, I only see the solution of comparing the slightest adjustments between those of any colleague and yours... It's loooonnnng.
To make it happen:
Have you tried to temporarily reset to factory settings?
To do this, launch solidworks RX:
Try an import step, if it works without opening every window it means that it comes from a bad setting, otherwise it may come from a corrupted file > do a SW repair.
No risk with this method, the current profile is reloaded the next time SW is started and at least this will eliminate one of the 2 main reasons for failure: software or tuning.
After a few tests; here are the settings to apply so that you do not open the parts in separate windows (Solidworks 2022):
FYI, the 2 3d interconnect sub-options are not present in 2020, as you can see on my screenshot. But I imagine @DoubleL is using a newer version.
