Opening 3D DWG in SOLIDWORKS

Hello everyone,
I received a 3D DWG from a supplier that I open without any problems with draftsight.
On the other hand, I can't open it in 3D with solidworks.
My PC ran from 4pm until 8am the next day without the conversion being completed.
Yet we have PCs that are racing beasts.
Does anyone have a solution? Or could someone convert it for me into several formats? STEP, IGES, SLDPRT... finally in a format that can be used by SOLIDWORKS 2022.

Attached is the DWG file

Thank you very much

@MLG

for the moment he only wants to do 2D and it grinds without I really know what he is doing.
I just had an image on the screen and now it crashed

I'd look better later

Kind regards

Hello Mr. Legras,
Try to have this file in ACIS format (*.sat), they are 3D A exchange files

utocad.
It's going the other way sooner but let's try anyway. (SW2022 SP4).

Hello

Opening with a DWG player (trial version), I have the visual, but I can't save it in another format because there are more than 1000 objects.
The object (swing + chain) looks composed of a mesh of surfaces

This may be the reason why SW has a hard time, if there are a lot of surfaces.
By the way, edrawing is also struggling... but he opens it qd even

If you have draftsight, you may be able to convert it into a format that you can import more easily under sw.

Drafsight can't convert it, but it seems that Autodesk software is capable (Inventor or Autocad) as mentioned by @A.R
On the other hand, even in sat the facetting will remain and the heaviness with certainly, but perhaps in a lesser way.
More than found a colleague with Inventor or ask the supplier for another format

@A.R , I asked my supplier, but for project privacy reasons, they only offer DWG.

@opiep27 , ditto, I tested a few converters, but I can't find any export format suitable for Solidworks

You can test installing fusion 360 trial version and exporting to sat:
https://www.autodesk.fr/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/FRA/Export-format-options-for-Fusion-360.html
Even if the sat is not great, it will be the best you can get in my opinion from the 3D provided.

For confidentiality I hope you didn't tell them that the piece was shared here, :laughing:because their format of m... is unusable!

@opiep27 , I have draftsight, but ditto. I can't find a compatible format:

Draftsight export formats:
image

Solidworks import formats:

Open with Autocad
228774 objects but no volume body, region, body.
impossible to do sat but I got an iges (~600MB raw, 50MB in 7zip), downloadable on this Wetransfer link: https://we.tl/t-L9W5bEXqmE

I didn't try to import it into SW, but it already took 1/2-3/4h to do the export.
I don't know what you'll get out of it in SW.

Hello

Which version of Sw are you on?
Here's what I was able to get and it's surface, the only thing I see is using the imprint function to create a volume part.

@stefbeno ,

thank you for the IGES.
I'm launching the opening tonight and letting it run this weekend to see...

@ac_cobra_427
It's not complete, but it's TOP !!
I'm going to try the impression to see if I can get volume out of it.
We are in 2022 SP5 version

Interesting, @ac_cobra_427 how do you get such a result?

@Lynkoa15 I have a good gaming PC at home and I run stuff like that in the evening :slightly_smiling_face: :upside_down_face: :slightly_smiling_face: :upside_down_face:

I'm going to try to open the DWG again by letting it run this weekend. You never :roll_eyes:know...
