Opening a STEP file with eDrawing 2017 PRO

Is there a particular installation to be able to open STEP files in eDrawing 2017 PRO on a PC that does not have the solidworks intall?

When I try to do this, it gives me an error message opening files

Thank you

Hello, hum I just did a test with a step... inconclusive result...

Try to record in edrw from solid.

Edit: otherwise from edrawing you do "file" "open" "file types" and there you will see the accessible formats.

I'm not sure if eDrawing Pro shows up opening the step.

IDA-Step (http://www.ida-step.net/components/viewers/basic), for a free one, works well but it's true that it's one more software to install.

Indeed, he didn't open the step, neither the Iges nor the parasolid...

just download and install microsoft visual C++ 2008 which is included in the SW install but not eDrawing alone

As a result, we can open the WWTP, IGES .. etc... since eDrawing 2017

Hello

Google -> https://www.microsoft.com/fr-FR/download/details.aspx?id=15336

This is the x64 version

Hello, if you type on google microsoft visual c++ you can't find it???

Weird! yes, as Philippe says, you can probably find it on the Microsoft website!

Kind regards

Hello

Thank you  philippe.cartier_1 but after the installation and restart of the pc it doesn't change anything.

The open function of e-drawing remains limited... Still no step option.

Kind regards

Hello

Be careful this only works with eDrawing 2017, is it this version?

Hello

Yes, I am using the 2017 pro SP4.1 (17.4.1.0001) version.

Hello

Obviously a standalone e-drawing installation from the SW installer does not give the same results with the same version.

After a repair of the SW installation with the e-drawing option, it works fine.

Thank you.
