I just updated Solidworks from version 2012 SP5 to 2013 SP5. And I have a problem with the "parts" files that I didn't have before. It is impossible to open them automatically with Solidworks!
I tried in "open with" but the "always open with" option is grayed out?!? I tried by going through "default program" but it's the same...
By searching a little on the internet I couldn't find a solution. I tried to reinstall the software but nothing helps. In the registry, the "parts" and "assembly" files seem to have the same information, but Solidworks only opens the assemblies on its own.
There is no error message. For Windows (7 by the way), the ".sldprt" files are unknown. Every time I click on it I have the right to the window: "Windows cannot open this file" and the choice either to go through the internet or to select the program myself
But there was no way to make him memorize my choice!
".PL" I totally uninstalled Solidworks from my workstation before installing the 2013 SP5. And we have a license for the 2013 that we bought at the end of 2012 so we made the choice to start with the 2012 which was SP5 at the time. And then I never thought of updating!
"ac cobra 427" Yes when I go to "Open with", I have Solidworks Launcher and if I click on it it opens without problem. But no way to do it automatically?!
I think there's only one solution left... It's a good formatting or a total de-installation of SW with a good lick of CCleaner and then a disk cleanup...
When you right-click on it, you open with it, at the bottom of the list you program by default, you search for solidworks and you check the box always open with it should work I think No need to format
arf not seeing that it was greyed out I read too fast Can you take a screenshot?
otherwise there's something you can try I haven't looked at completely yet http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html
Click this option to restore file associations, if you set your system to open all SolidWorks files from Windows ® Explorer with a specific version of the SolidWorks software.
To use this option, you must launch the SolidWorks software with Run as administrator privileges. These steps vary per operating system. For information, consult the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
