SMTP Settings for SolidWorks PDM

Hello everyone,

I would like to use SMTP messaging for my PDM because users don't pay attention to the internal notification and the PDM mailbox.

To do this, I entered the data of a valid SMTP mailbox in the email settings of the PDM, but when I test the address it doesn't work!

What parameters do you need to enter for it to work?

Is there a need for a proxy?

Thank you in advance

Hello

You have to set the server address and the port of it, usually 25. It goes through a mail server (SMTP), no need for a proxy.

That's what I thought but it doesn't work.

I'm attaching screenshots of my settings, and the error message I get when I do the mailbox test

tester_les_parametres.jpg

Error 550: Permanent failure. The mailbox doesn't exist or the recipient's address is invalid.

Is the email address really existing at Orange?

yes yes it's an email address used by a colleague, I tried with my own code my mailbox being at OVH, but I get the same result

At first glance, the port for outgoing emails at orange is 465.

we see "mailbox error"

Wouldn't it be the writing of the address "from the email" the problem?

"spaces" are not forbidden in the email address?

"SolidWorks_PDM@NoReply.fr"

Not wrong, there is surely that too

Hello

Has anyone managed to set this up or find an alternative?

No, still no solution to date

Hello

If the outgoing server is "smtp.orange.fr" then I guess you have to put an existing ".......@orange.fr" sending  email address and not ".......@NoReply.fr".

It also seems to me that for the outgoing server "smtp.orange.fr" the port should be 465.

An answer that can be useful: see HERE.
