I'm using Draftsight Version V1R5 x64 on Windows 7 Pro.
I have sent DWG in R2013 version to an Autocad user who informs me that Autocad is issuing a reading warning whose content is approximately: "this file was not created by Autocad ... do you want to open it?"; then, after opening the DWG, you can view the plan but it seems impossible to modify anything in Autocad: no creation of a new layer, .... .
I am attaching an example of a file that I created under Drafsight and which is causing problems.
Hello, ditto, we use the recording in the older version. This is indicated in my tutorial available on Lynkoa for the transition from Autocad to DraftSight but you can find it here:
@stefbeno, I agree if we have the latest version of autocad but if like me the customer has an autocad 2002 the Draft 2014 files are not open and you get the same error message as in the question.
Not everyone can afford to own the latest versions "at least honestly"
I agree more with your hypothesis, except that if the file is read-only, AutoCAD doesn't prevent you from working on it. It just locks the backup, which forces you to give your file another name.
THE problem of creating a layer comes from elsewhere...
@Gérald
No, if the person has an older version of AutoCAD than the saved file, the message is not the same. It indicates that the file has been preserved in an incompatible version and that it must be converted to be able to open it.
To do this, there is also DWGTrueview from Autodesk (http://www.autodesk.com/products/dwg/viewers). It is almost as heavy as AutoCAD but it can read, print and annotate all versions and also allows conversions. And it's free...
More seriously, do you have the possibility to recover the exact error message (screenshot)?
@Gerald: Autocad LT, for rent, costs €240 excl. tax/year (http://www.autodesk.fr/products/autocad-lt/buy) and there is a choice in the formula: http://www.autodesk.fr/subscription/desktop
