PDM - location of the archives: on PDM server or other?

Hello, after discussion with several video interlocutors I have a doubt about the best solution to architecture our servers. Today we use 2 separate physical servers: the PDM server (with the SQL database) and the archive server (with the SW files), as we were advised when we installed the vault. Following various problems, the logs of the PDM server show us communication problems between the servers (socket problems). The visiativ support advises to put the archives on the same physical server, which in theory should actually improve the exchanges (or even speed them up?).

What is your opinion on the matter? How is your data structured?

Another question: it seems from this page that the transfer of archives is child's play. Have you ever tried it? I imagine that you have to take certain precautions (all users logged out and all archived files in particular) and that this is not instantaneous...

Hello
Visiativ continues to advise two separate servers, as visible on page 6 of the attached document:

"It is not recommended to install instances of other applications on the archive or database server. It is recommended that you dedicate two separate machines to the PDM Professional archive server and database server."

However, I think it should be possible to use the same physical server on which two servers are virtualized.
Can a person from Visiativ intervene to give his opinion?

Hello

We are also at two separate servers.

So we end up with 6 servers since we are replicating 2 based on 2 sites: 2 SQL and 4 archives.

A priori we can even end up with 8 now because we can have replicated SQL...
