Hello
We have a few requirements to be able to change the state of a file,
If required fields are not populated, PDM displays a warning to the user.
"Transition conditions not met"
But the user does not know directly what he forgot to enter
Ideally, it would be possible to customize the PDM comment by "Please fill in the xxx field"
Is it possible?
Have a nice day

Obviously, this is a novelty for 2018
From What's New:
"SOLIDWORKS PDM now provides detailed warning messages when a transition fails.
If one or more conditions are not met, the Warnings column :
- A warning if a condition fails.
- A hyperlink if multiple or all OR conditions fail.
You can click on the hyperlink to see the details of the conditions that are not met. Based on the conditions defined in the transition, the warning includes details such as condition type, comparison criteria, value, and configuration details."
Luckily for us, maintenance contract OK
In October, we launch a test phase for a transition to SW 2020

It's indeed much better but it's not necessarily very clear if you transition several files that don't follow exactly the same path. The error message gives the list of possibilities but does not really target the one that makes the transition fail:
In the attached image (transition of a 3D + associated 2D sound ) it is transition 1 that is blocking (2D workflow) but it still indicates in the message the condition of transition 2 which is in this case OK (3D workflow).

There is no solution to this problem today according to Visiativ support. I made the request for improvement to be able to set each message to be able to display a detailed text defined by us (users don't necessarily know the names of the variables for example) but no feedback for the moment.
The only "band-aid" solution for the moment: to provide users with a flow-chart describing each workflow with the necessary conditions for each transition so that they can "translate" each warning message.
