Hello,
I'm trying to make slotted holes on a bent sheet metal. After some research and testing, the best solution seemed to be to unfold my sheet metal, perform the extrusion (the holes), and then use the bending function.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck at this last step. I can't fold my sheet metal: an error message appears: " Reconstruction error: This part contains functions that cannot be unfolded."
I use SW2023

Thank you

Hello and welcome;
Be sure to specify which version of Solidworks is being used.
And, a screenshot would not be refused...
This allows you not to download the part if our versions of Solidworks are older. (I have Solidworks 2022 and obviously you are using a higher version)
And this makes it possible to improve the quality of any responses...
Since I can't open your component, I'm responding blindly.
- It is a good practice to unfold the sheet metal before drilling the holes.
- Pay attention to the conditions for the end of drilling, regardless of the type of material removal used (Drilling wizard? Extrusion?) … I prefer the piercing assistant. It is preferable not to use " Through everything " but to link the depth to the thickness of the sheet.
- It is also sometimes interesting to use the " normal to " option, especially if the angle of the sheet to be drilled is outside the reference planes (X,Y,Z)
Regards.

Hello,
SW manages very badly the removal of material in the folds, that's nothing new...
For a stupid trunk like your piece it seems almost impossible to me, unless you start the construction in another way (your construction is logical, SW less so):

And not even sure that we can achieve the desired result...
Good luck!

I think the same thing, it's the method of building the transition folds that puts the souk, using another method to form the cone tonc it works

Hello, I'm using the 2023 version, so I can't see the construction tree, can you tell me the settings you changed?
Thank you for your answer but I can't understand the difference in parameter between your construction tree and mine
Yes way of building does not please Sw (2023). Even without material removal, sw can't fold your workpiece.
Here is the method of building the cone and indeed you used the same method...

@Le_Bidule
oops, it's the heat
My apologies.
For my part, in 2023 no functional solution to find the cone trunk unfolds (unfolding) but the function (folding) systematically fails even if no function between unfolding and folding

Possibly @Scofield1 it's the Sw version that makes the difference because for me the initial construction is good. Which version do you use?
@a_eriaud for me your solution is a rolled sheet metal (cylinder part) and not a cone trunk.
@hugoferreira , here's my method
Step 1: Folded base sheet

Step 2: Material removal

Step 3: Sketch Folding Hack...

@sbadenis , indeed it's for a rolled sheet metal, I just remembered that in my old job I made 2 configurations: one folded with the removal of material n°1 and one unfolded with the removal of material n°2. It's tedious but it worked...
