Performance Requirements for Solidworks 2016

I would like to install the SW 2016 license that the high school shares with me but I'm not sure I have the necessary abilities...
I have a NEW Windows 10 64bits laptop with 4GB of RAM, is that enough?

Thank you for your answer

Good evening, look on this link you have all the info.

https://www.solidworks.fr/sw/support/SystemRequirements.html

But in our experience, the only point that often blocks is the graphics card.

This graphics card, contrary to what many think, does not need to be ultra-powerful, it only needs to be compatible.

If you don't know what type of card you have on your PC install the free Speccy utility. It will tell you everything about your configuration.

Keep us informed :-)

Kind regards

Hello

It's hard to answer like that.

- Windows 10 64bits NEW: yes but is it family or pro?

- 4GB of RAM: it may be a bit tight especially since I guess there won't be only Solidworks to run on it.

-Processor?

-Video card? (the need depends on the intended use for Solidworks)

And above all:

- What is Solidworks used for? (simple parts and assemblies, surface, etc ...)

For me, I think it's really too close, it's probably going to turn around but from there to work on it!!

Kind regards

Don't get angry d.roger, we're talking about a license used in high school. We are not going to ask them to make a complete machine.

I think it has to pass, it's close to what I have at home. Of course it won't be transcendent, but it has to be done to make a piece, a small assembly of about ten pieces.

Often this type of machine has a gaming-oriented graphics card that doesn't know how to work with SW, as opposed to the graphics chipset integrated into the motherboard. So you have to get to the point that when you use SW to disable the GeForce card and force the Intel chipset.

Hello

@stefbeno, I'm not getting upset and if it was taken like that I apologize, I only asked a few questions in order to better understand the need and thus try to provide an answer as close as possible to the need.

Kind regards

No worries, it was second degree, there is a lack of smileys on this forum.

Thank you all for your answers, I decided to install it anyway because I need it and we'll see after all, it's just to model my small business project, it won't go very far...

Good luck to you
