Design Log Customization

Hi all

I discover the function of the design log, which is full of promise when it comes to the design history of a part.

But its layout is frankly ugly from the start, the addition of the image in automatic is particularly ugly, and I would like to add some properties to it.

I found the original templates here:

C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS\lang\english\Journal.doc

And I repointed to a new Template in Option/File Location\Design Log Template

Pb, even if you delete the Templates in the original folder, SW won't look for the new one where I defined it.

By going to the prtdot and modifying the log, I find my edits when opening a new coin. But by wanting to reproduce the same modification on the asmdot, no way, SW tells me not to find the file. So I put a journal.doc back in the original folder, and now it's OK, the assembly can have its log.

So I end up with:

  • A beautiful template that is useless because it is not used by SW :sob:
  • a prtdot who has his diary saved internally (and who therefore seems to point to nothing at all)
  • an asmdot that only points to SW's original folder.

This story is crazy.

Once this is solved, I will have to figure out how to point to SW properties to display it on the cover page...

If anyone has an idea of how to get out of it, I'm interested, I'll tear out the little hair I have left on this infernal thing.

We are making progress.

By renaming the new Template exactly like the old one Journal.doc (I stupidly renamed it), it works for assembly.
But still not for the play... I don't understand where the prtdot is going to get its template...

Found!

In the prtdot, delete the design log, it reappears automatically, but then the link is done correctly with the template indicated in the SW options.
