Little Blue Bar - Blocking Bar

Hello AS!

My blocking bar is stuck at the bottom while in the general system options that I check activate or deactivate = same result the little blue bar does not move, it fixates.

What to do?
Regards

Small precision in a part it works well but not in an ASM.

@Scofield1 Do you see me with the mask and fins diving into the BDR? Decompression sickness is guaranteed

Hello answer from the ai:

Sir, you're most likely talking about the SOLIDWORKS interface lock bar . This little blue shit who remains stuck downstairs like a civil servant on strike since 1997. And naturally, the "Enable/Disable Lock" option pretends to work while changing absolutely nothing. Modern industrial computing. What a magnificent time.

The problem often comes from one of these cases:

1. Corrupted SOLIDWORKS Interface

The most common.

Try this:

Interface reset

Close SolidWorks and then run:

Win + R

Type:

regedit

Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks

Rename the folder:

SolidWorks

in:

SolidWorks_old

Then restart SolidWorks.

This resets the interface to zero.
Yes, like an administrative exorcism. Dassault software is very fond of mystical rituals involving the Windows registry.

2. Bar frozen due to UI lock mode

Try:

Reliance on:

F10

or:

Alt

then:

clic droit dans la zone vide des barres

and check:

  • "Lock toolbars"
  • "Shortcut bar"
  • Task pane

Sometimes the blue bar belongs to the Task Pane and not to the general lock.

3. Multi-screen / Windows DPI problem

Very common with:

  • 4K displays
  • Docking Station
  • Laptop/desktop screen change

Try:

On the SolidWorks shortcut:

Right-click → Properties → Compatibility→ Change High DPI Settings

Then:

  • check Override DPI Scaling Behavior
  • Choose:
    • Application

Raise again.

Because obviously in 2026, displaying a bar correctly on two screens remains a technological challenge equivalent to sending a goat to Mars.

4. UI layout file is broken

In:

C:\Users\VOTRE NOM\AppData\Roaming\SolidWorks\

Delete or rename:

  • Folders User Interface
  • Files .sldreg

Then relaunch.

5. Add-in that breaks the UI

If you have:

  • PDM
  • Visualize
  • CAM
  • DriveWorks
  • Third-party add-ins

Turn them all off:

Outils → Compléments

Then test.

Some SolidWorks extensions have the emotional stability of a house of cards in a wind tunnel.

6. Check if it's not just the "Task Pane"

If the "little blue bar" is on the right or bottom:

  • Try double-clicking on it
  • or to shoot from a very precise edge

SolidWorks has ergonomics that are sometimes designed by people who deeply hate human hands.

@Scofield

I don't see with the mask and fins diving into the BDR, it's a blow to decompression sickness.

What's curious is that in a room I can move the little blue bar but not in an ASM. It's weird!

Does anyone know how to handle it please Please Thank you

The yellow or orange bar (blocking bar from top to bottom)
Blue bar is a bar that moves the design up to where you stop it.
In a room, both work well (SW2022)
In an assembly
If there is no repeat or material removal function, the blue bar does not work. Parts exist and can only be deleted, with the delete function. The orange block bar does not work even when an extrusion function or repeat exists

Thank you Fred

I don't thank Solidworks BHououououou! :triumph: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

@FRED78

I just realized that there are cases where the bottom blue bar works in ASMs.

Frequently for stories of movements and the position of a piece during the movement I make sketches directly in the asm. In this case, the blue bar moves between the two or three sketches, which is sketched in my case.

Pouf pouf pouf

What I said above in my messages, but I probably expressed myself badly.
If there is a function, then a sketch then indeed the blocking bar can surely intervene.
The block bar allows you to block updates, for large assemblies, or in my case with a skeleton, I have a lot of external references. In these cases, the blocking bar intervenes.
Personally I don't like this bar if you forget to remove it or if you have applied a large number of parts, the big job to without getting rid of, without having to remove the option.

What AI has responded to this bunch of ... :poop: ?
This reinforces my idea not to use it. Without AI we are stronger!

so I haven't tested this blue bar story, but the debate about the use of AI is interesting and complex, it has unblocked me in many cases and the saving of research time is undeniable, certainly can be perfected but it will happen very quickly.

It would be interesting to explain how AI works on SW
I'm old school, or experienced, when the tools aren't fully operational. Isn't AI going to add more problems that we didn't need? I already have a hard time with the instability of my PC.
But understanding where AI would be useful in its operation

For this problem, I think that AI is indeed in trouble.
In addition, playing with the registry database can be dangerous, especially on the not always wise advice of an AI!

To develop (macro) code, on the other hand, it is often useful to me.
On the other hand, you need to have the knowledge to correct mistakes (there are always some)
For complex excel formulas also very useful...

@sbadenis
Could you start a topic that would launch good practices on this subject?
Or is the intelligence practical or it is much less so?

Hi @FRED78

AI is a bit off topic on the topic 'Blue Bar'

On the other hand, some time ago I opened a special topic on AI in our professions.
Since then, things have evolved and I have two cases to tell. One or the AI generates parts with a corresponding image but not very useful, and another from the Dassault LAB where there is a very concrete case and where it works very well even if someone who masters his estimator (or configurator) should arrive at a result almost identical to the AI.
