Can we convert an STL file to a solid?

I have a part in STL format. I'd like to make a solid one to work on again.

Is there free or paid software?

Thank you for your help

Hello

In the window to open a file in solidworks, choose the .stl filter and then in the options you can convert it to solid.

Warning: This can be very long depending on the length of the mesh of the stl and especially you will have to deal with the cutting of the surfaces.

This implies that the diameters will be recognized as facets.

That's it!

Thank you very much for the answer

Can we change the texture of the room?

Apart from the details stated, the part is converted to parasolid so you can use it like a classic solid in solidworks.

If the STL is too complex (too many facets for example) there is also the solution to use the ScanTo3d add-in of solidworks which allows you to reprocess cloud files or mesh files (such as the stl for example) to transform them into a volume.

Hello fthomas please how to access the ScanTo3d add-in?

ScanTo3d is only available from the SW premium version.

When SW starts, just go to the toolbar > add-ins > select ScanTo3D
