Is there any hope that one day PhotoView 360 will use the GPU to calculate the image QUICKLY, instead of using the CPU that prevents any other use of the machine during the rendering time?
The computing power of today's GPUs has made per-CPU rendering totally outdated. It's time to get started! Nothing is more frustrating than waiting for dozens of minutes when it could be completed in less than 2.
the current photoview is an almost dead product in the sense that Soliworks has bet everything on Visualize.
For the record, Photoview is a product that was a derivative of MODO 901 for a while, but the latter is too complex (because it is much richer than rendering) and has been dropped in favor of Bunkspeed (which has been renamed Visualize for the occasion).
As much as Photoview is free, Vizualise basic is mandatory for annual maintenance. No maintenance, no software.
In fact it's more complicated than that, but in short! Obviously there are several versions of Visualize with especially in the basic version the impossibility to make videos simply. The sophisticated version of Visualize is a very expensive (plus 4000 € of memory). The basic version of visualize allows you to do very nice things but it requires training and a significant investment of time right after.
Let's say that PhotoView 360 also has the advantage of being able to be rendered and displayed directly in the SW viewport, more convenient for previews during modeling. So a speed (instantaneity) of rendering would be particularly useful and appropriate. Half an hour of preview after each small change is not great...
