Medium shot of a point cloud

Good morning, gentlemen.

Unlike yesterday, I checked if the question has already been asked... I hope I have searched well...

Here is my problem:

I have a point cloud that comes from a control, so from this cloud, I should be able to have an average shot.

Is this possible? Knowing that this is an operation that happens quite regularly and that the cloud has 50 points.

Thanks in advance

A line by least squares method?

Let's say that by going through a macro I know it's possible, a whole bunch of equations allow it.

What interests me would be:

-1) Let us consider a particular function in Solid that allows you to create the mean plane from a multitude of points.

-2) Or the macro outright.

If nothing exists, I'll get started, but if I can avoid recreating something that already exists. Because it seems to me that it's a feature that could be damn useful to all those who do control.

Out of 50 points, good luck calculating the mean plane using the least squares method.

Better to use Mayer's method....

Nevertheless, whatever method chosen, I doubt that a satisfactory and accurate result will be obtained.

I'm still going to look at what I can do

it seems feasible to me with the surface creation functions of scanTo3d ... On the other hand, you need to have a Solidworks Premium to have this add-on.

It looks good ScanTo3D. Indeed we should be able to get by with that.

"My license server" can't let me see what it looks like but I just saw a video it looks impeccable for what I want to do! As soon as I've managed this license problem, I'll test!

Thank you!

Hello fpinheiro,

I just arrived on lynkoa.

I am a mathematician and work on point clouds represented by a numerical function subject to differential constraints. So I can process 2D and 3D.

Send me a 2D or 3D cloud and I'll look for an equation that can represent it.

(In this example, the area passes through each of the 8 red points and near the other 118 points in the least squares sense.)

Friendly.

Hello alusipdranreb

As soon as I have this kind of point cloud again, I'll get back to you!

Thank you!
