Hello
First of all, happy new year to all and may this year 2017 be full of success for your family or professional projects.
I am looking for a mechanical assembly with spring allowing the automatic closing of a gate at the top of a cage ladder.
Has anyone already developed this type of project?
Thank you for your answer.
Hello
Happy New Year to you too.
Wouldn't a simple spring groom of this type be enough?

For the hinge, use a tube cut at an angle so that the gate must be lifted to open. Gravity will make it close by itself!

Have you ever seen this type of part in the joint?

In general, we try to have the minimum number of parts
The door must in theory and practice close this door alone and without any other artifice

hinges with an angle and it is the weight of the wicket gate that acts
the gate rises when it is opened and by its own weight it descends by itself

Hello, the spring is a good solution, but there are also hinges with integrated spring or helical hinges.
Look at Pinet and/or Foussier Quincaillerie
