Hello
I receive steps from the supplier and when importing the materials are not filled in.
Is it possible to fill in the materials and parts from the assembly?
I have not found a solution other than to provide room by room.
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
Kind regards

Hello@YP69
No better because for Solidworks the material is always attached to the individual part.
Another solution as it's STEP you transform your ASM into PART and you put the material of this global part. But your ASM becomes totally immutable and that's not glop!
Kind regards

I wanted to avoid turning ASM into PART because it can't be modified

Hello
Basically, I would have said right click in the files from the assembly but it's still part by piece.
If always the same material, in this case you have to create the part doc template with a material, it will apply to the import of the step.
After that, there are the macros.
It all depends on the desired result in fact.

It's not always the same material
For this time I'm going to do it by hand piece by piece. Macro afterwards
Thank you for the feedback
Hello colleagues,
In fact, you can transform an asm into a loan and keep the links between them. If we modify the assembly (a part of it) the part just regenerates and that's it. Just do as described in my tutorial

Hello
You can change the material in an assembly by going to "Assembly visualization" in the "Evaluate" tab
You select the parts whose material you want to change, right click "materials" and then you choose your material.
