Why is the X-axis in the vertical position by default and how do I change it, please?

Hi all

I just switched from Inventor to CATIA and used to click on the UCS to view my sketches and 3D.
On Catia when I click on the Z axis of the compass, it is the X axis that is vertical.
What for? and how do you change it in the settings once and for all, please?

Hello jmthiriotwork,

And welcome to the community, hoping that you will find a solution.

I used Catia very quickly, but here is a little video about what you are looking for.
Hoping I helped you a little.

Hello, thank you for taking an interest in my question but I have already seen this video, it does not answer my problem which is the X axis of the compass.

Have a nice day

Hello maybe that's it?? To change the behavior, right-click on the compass (Swap), see screenshots. not found to change once and for all (maybe in administrator mode?).

Hello Franck,

That's it, thank you... but suddenly the views of the assembly have jumped :frowning:
Let me explain: if it was a cube I should have a square face visually but that's not the case

You must be in perspective rendering mode (switch to parallel).
tab: Display / Render Style / Parallel
Edit: personally I prefer to use the custom views at least it doesn't move as long as you don't overwrite the Catsetings

Hello
No, I'm in "parallel", but as I swapped the axes of the compass, the front view is visually the left view, very visible with Manekin7

But this is not my main PB: my assembly is no longer oriented at all in relation to the axes of the compass

Have a nice day

Hello normally (Good practice) you should have fixed the first part that references the assembly (e.g. casing, base, frame etc.) then iso constrains the rest of the parts.

If this is the case, you reorient the first room as you wish and the rest must follow (Be careful if your ASS is used elsewhere, especially a drawing), I would not touch it.

You can always follow my previous advice and reorient the views or create new ones, there are the scenes too. (It all depends on the purpose) work habit or need for drawing, digital model presentation?
