Problem with the Drilling Wizard

Hello everyone.

Here I am!!

since I did the SLDW 2013 update I have problems with the "drilling assistant" function.

As soon as I click on it, here is the message (see the photo):

Running out of memory or other error in trying to initialize the data source from the standards file "C:\AppData\Roaming\Solidworks 2013\HoleWizardFavorites.mdb"

To solve my problem, only one solution, click OK, close Solidworks and restart it!!

If anyone has already had the problem, please help me because it is becoming more than painful.

Thank you in advance.

The HoleWizardFavorites.mdb file is the file that contains the drilling favorites, if you have not created any it contains only the piercing you made last.

If you delete this file it will be recreated automatically, does this solve your problem?

Hello Rudy,

Having already had this problem on solidworks 2012 at the time, I performed the following procedure which eliminated the problem:

=>If an error is displayed when the drilling assist is enabled.

Perform a cleanup of your hard drive where solidwords is installed.

Then go to document and setting => Your profile =>Time => delete all the files that are stored there.

This will allow you to reclaim space, so that you can restart your drilling assistance tools
This way of doing things can also be used if the H7, H6, etc. Bug

I hope that its will help you at least at home it passed when I performed this operation

Have a nice day

Hello

Personally, I don't think of a corruption of the file hotlewizardfavorite.mdb

In your screenshot, I can see that using a 32-bit SolidWorks (probably a 32-bit OS)

We have encountered this error a lot of times on 32 Bit computers because the memory usage is limited to 2GB for applications, the drilling assistant function requires a fairly large memory block, if this memory block is not available when you launch the function, this message appears.

By closing SolidWorks, you free up memory, I think it works for a while, you keep opening files and after a while, it's no longer possible to launch the wizard.

On the Win Xp workstations, there was a solution, called the 3Gb mode, a manipulation that consisted of modifying the Windows boot file and entering a command allowing to use 3GB of memory, most of the time this allowed to postpone the problem, or even make it disappear completely.

The problem is that this manipulation is quite risky, it is possible that by applying this command, the computer does not reboot.

Also, I don't know if it's possible to achieve this on Win 7.

The only really effective solution for this kind of problem is the use of an x64 OS.

I hope this information can be useful to you.

Hi all

first of all THANK YOU for your quick and clear answers.

@ Mickaël:D my point of view I will rather lean towards your answer.

It's true that I run on Windows 7 32 bits and therefore SLDW 32 bits.

My PC was originally designed to do basic commands (Outlook, MS office, Internet, etc.).

I think SLDW 2013 requires more resources than 2012 and therefore it is saturated.

@fthomas: Having never had a pb before (2010-2011-2012) and that I have only made updates, I don't think that the HoleWizardFavorites.mdb file is asking me pb. Now I'm not a specialist so I don't rule out this hypothesis.

@Centor: I'm going to try to do a little cleaning in the PC to free up some space but in my opinion it will only push back the pb. But thanks anyway for the info.

Once again THANK YOU to you and to Lynkoa.
