Hello
I currently use an access database to manage our BE folders, and hyperlinks are automatically created to the folders in the PDM vault. The Problem
is that when I click on a link it opens the folder but under the classic Windows window (there are not all the options and PDM add-on), I have the same problem with excel or others,
Only with Outlook do PDM links open correctly. Is there a solution to make the links open with the PDM window?
Hello
This is normal, the link displayed in Outlook is not formatted on a folder but on a parametric line of this type:
conisio://<PDM_Vault>/explore?projectid=<FolderID>&documentid=<FileID>&objecttype=1
It's this type of path that opens the chest, otherwise it's classic explorer. On the other hand it necessarily points to a file, I haven't found anything about it on the net. Check with the reseller if there is a solution natively or via a plugin.
Hello
You have the "CopyLink" tool of "MyPdmTools" to make hypertext links on files or folders internal to EPDM, see HERE, but it's not automatic.
Kind regards
@d.roger: Unless I'm mistaken, it only copies the link to a file and not a folder (even in their screenshot you don't see anything referring to a folder).
Moreover, it's very nice their thing but this function has existed natively since PDM2018 (copy link in the menus). The rest of the arguments are enough to read the Outlook hyperlinks and roll.
On the other hand, some have developed internal PDM utilities (via an add-in) to create a hypertext link in a data map, then just export it.
Anyway seeing how it's formatted in my opinion via a stupid excel macro to format this link it's very easy (retrieving the folder ID, retrieving the ID of a target file and formatting the link it fits in 4 lines max)
Accessing a folder doesn't seem to be possible at all even in the native way of PDM (I checked in the file containing all the notification templates and there is nothing for a folder only, there is always a need for the ID of a document)
I just want to open a folder, not a file, when I get the Microsoft security message, it works fine, it opens it for me with the PDM.
Anyone know how to activate this same message on access links? (See image)

I'm a little surprised because on my computer, even with this message, it still opens the classic Windows explorer.
So we'll see but in this case it can come from the integration of PDM in Excel. I don't think that exists with Acces.
The identifier of a file does not open it, it is just that when opening the folder the vault positions the selection on a file.
And so unless I'm mistaken, when hovering over the links in Outlook there is the real parametric line to access the vault.
If you manage to open a folder without preselecting a file in Outlook links, in this case you just need to retrieve this link and change the folder ID (which can be displayed in a column of the vault view).

@Cyril.f it puts "file:\\\" in front of the link, but on access even by putting that, it doesn't change anything, I think it's really the Windows security message that makes the link open well with PDM.

I don't have the same behavior at all. So joker

It's okay I found, it's very simple, you just had to add a "\" at the end of the link and it changes everything. It opens with PDM.
Thank you for your help.
Hello
In my opinion, just putting a "\" at the end of the link works if you've already been to this folder...
Now if you put the path to a folder you haven't been to yet or if you put yourself on another PC you may get a message like "Unable to open the specified file", a little local cache thing!!
Kind regards
And for your information, and after some tests, the use of CopyLink on a folder allows you to create a hypertext link to open the "PDM-typed" explorer to the target folder with pre-selection of the first file present in the folder, it is not an access to the data map of the folder but the equivalent of a standard shortcut to a folder in Windows at The difference is that a file is preselected. At least that's the behavior I get...
Kind regards
Indeed you are right, I had not seen this detail. That said, it helps you out anyway, you just have to click once on the folder for it to work afterwards.
To copy link the problem even if it works, I have to put the links back one by one in access, while currently my links are created automatically in access.
Thank you.
Yes, it helps but if the folder has already been visited, otherwise the link (test done in Excel and Word with or without the "\" at the end) does not open the explorer even in Windows version ... Stuck on the message "Unable to open the specified file" ...
Kind regards
Yes I confirm for the fact that the folder must have already been opened on PDM to not have the message "unable to open". But you still need the "\" at the end otherwise for my part it opens it in classic Windows.
