Problem mass measurement assembly SW2014

In an assembly, it is not possible to measure the mass of 2 or more subassemblies at the same time.

In the mass properties, the results displayed are: -1.#J grams / -1.#J cubic millimeters / -1.#J square millimeters.

How to solve this problem?

Hello

All you have to do is select the sub-assemblies in the tree or in the 3D by holding CTRL to obtain their masses.

To change the units, you have to go to the properties of the document in:

Tools > Options > Document Properties > Units

I would complete .PL's answer by saying that it is sometimes necessary to change the assemblies/part from "light" to "solved" (right click, set lightweight parts to resolved)

I applied the technique by holding ctrl but the result is the same.

The problem is that there must be one or more parts or SolidWorks is unable to calculate masses and the result is -1.#J.

You can also adjust all the lightened parts by solving directly by going to the first line of the tree (the highest level of the assembly) and right-clicking then on:

"Settle solved parts on Lite"

If some parts are imported, then it is mandatory to assign a mass to them in the mass properties of each part => assigned.

I finally selected my sub-assemblies 1 by 1, I found the one that is problematic and then I selected part by part until I found the problem part.

Indeed it is an imported part so I am forced to manually apply a mass to it.

Thank you for your quick response.

with the Evaluate tool bar / Mass properties

if you select the parts and of course you have specified a material for them

you will have the mass of your coins
