Hello
I would need your help:
My problem is the following, on an MEP I make views with assemblies composed of two sub-assemblies, one for the manufactured parts and another for the environment. I change the line font of the environment so that it is unobtrusive on view.
When I change the line font on the subassembly, many of its components don't change fonts.
The state
SolidWorks 2022
Multiple configurations to achieve different views
I use assemblies dedicated to drawings with material removal to create my presentation configurations.
Any idea??
Hello @FRED78,
Before anything else:
If one of the subsets is the environment (context), it should logically be defined as an envelope because an environment is not part of the BOM and its mass should not be involved in the calculation of the assembly that contains it.
Defining it as an envelope will have 2 effects in the drawing:
- It will not appear by default. To make it appear, right-click on the property> view > show the envelope
- Once the envelope is visible, its line font, if the default settings have not been changed, is set to thin mixed stroke or something like that, which is the standard for representing context elements.
Secondly:
Be careful not to mix configuration and display states!! each one has its use!
If it's just generated different hidden state displayed, transparency, appearance → display state
If it is a question of modifying the representation of the part/assembly (e.g. cylinder rod in/out, optional element on a machine, etc.) → configuration
As for the behavior of line fonts, it may be because some components use their file appearance in the assembly while others have a specific appearance in the assembly.

Hello Silver-surfer
I don't use the envelope because I had problems from the beginning of this plan. The display state I only have one. I didn't have any problems until this MEP
For bills of materials:
I use assemblies dedicated to the MEP, i.e. I have a design assembly that I don't alter with configurations or others, I use an isolated (dedicated) assembly in which I insert my design subassemblies. In this one I do what I like.
I exclude from the nomenclature the environmental assembly directly in the dedicated assembly, and so far no problem.
The display states can be a concern, and I'm going to look at the envelopes again but as I put a few sides hooked on it and I had problems hanging it, I'm going to test it
Thank you for your help
