Solidworks file protection against opening/reading

Hello community,

I would like to know if there is a possibility with solidworks , to protect an SLDPRT file from being opened by a third party.

In short, I have my SLDPRT file and I would have to ask me for a password when opening it to have access to it... In order for  people to view the potentially sensitive information in the SLDPRT file.

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Hello

To my knowledge there is no native possibility in SW to protect files.

If you are in a network, the easiest way is to set up access rights on folders containing CAD.

Hmm Ok, thank you Cyril.F...
I'm going to take a look at other software that could allow you to protect folders via password.

Thanks again... I'll keep you posted

I can't see a CAD software requiring a password to open a file: you risk having a password per asm file and then an mdp per part, it's totally unmanageable.

The only solution is at the storage system level, but you will quickly be penalized in terms of access time if you go for exotic solutions.

A small, properly configured NAS will do just fine.
