I need to send files (from SW2013 source) to a client for colorimetric testing to determine a painting procedure. So far so good! Ideally, I would send him a *.smg file (suitable for this kind of exchange between manufacturer and customer) but unfortunately I don't have the possibility to do so because it requires having "SW composer" and therefore a paid license that I can't get. So I'm looking for an alternative solution that allows me to send files without them being usable by my client (no side-taking, no access to "prt" or "asm"). Well, get the smallest file possible to facilitate the transfer by email as far as possible.
You can create Edrawings by prohibiting the possibility of measuring that you open with Edrawings or directly by creating an executable file, so you don't need Edrawing to open the file which is a little larger.
So for the executable Edrawing, good idea I hadn't thought about it but the problem is that my client won't be able to assign colors to the different surfaces and that's the purpose of this file transfer ("colorimetric tests to determine a painting procedure") so not necessarily interesting in this specific case.
I think that if I go through Lynkoa (good idea .PL by the way!) I will have exactly the same problem.
Well then, being a little pressed for time, I opted for a solution that is not very conventional but that suits me.
Let me explain: I started with my assembly which includes about 450 pieces, I saved it in *.prt. So I get a file with an unusable creation tree. Then I save this *.prt again as *. STEP (AP203) to obtain a universal file and without appearances (colors) so that my client works from a neutral element.
Not a very elegant method I agree but hey in a hurry we do what we can.
