Drawing Retrieve After Changing the Name of the Associated Assembly

Hi all.

I have a small problem that a drawing.

I had to change the name of the parent assembly, so I also changed the name of the .sldrw.

But when I open the map I don't have the views anymore and I can't get them back.

Is there a solution.

Thank you in advance.

Good night.

Yes, just click open, select your drawing, and click "references"

Then choose the components that are part of this drawing.

If the links to the assembly have also been broken, do the same by selecting the assembly, and click on reference to choose the parts contained in the assembly.

Well saved in the end!

If you are on a SW2013 max version

  1. Close the SLDDRW
  2. press "Open"
  3. Point to the SLDDRW and click the "Reference" button in the dialog box
  4. You will be able to indicate where your assembly is located by double-clicking on the name
  5. When it's done, click on "OK" and then "Open"

from 2014 there is a button for that in File/Reference or something like that.

Hello

The views should have a large cross in a rectangle!

Right-click on the view, then open, go find the new location.

insert a new view of the assembly in question. then right click on all the greyed out views and make it show, and normally everything comes back.

In the future, if you need to change the name of an E part, assembly or plan, use the "Take-Home Composition"

Hello

Everything has been said and well said.

Here is a video (quite old) but which explains the different ways to duplicate components with their respective drawings.

You're welcome too.

yes @jmsavoyat, it's still more pleasant a real answer than a vague internet link thrown in bulk;)
