Relationship between part and sketch in an assembly

Hello everyone
in my work solidworks 2019 has been updated by SW 2024
I have a problem in an assembly
I can't put relationships between a sketch and an imported part in the assembly.
assembly
1 rectangular plate.
An imported part that I positioned using constraints
and on the plate in edit mode I trace my sketch.
But when I select points or lines I only have the one of my sketch, the one of the part does not appear
I am having the same problem with an imported part that is constrained in an assembly and creating a new part in this assembly.
Previously with SW2013 and 2019 no problem.
(I am not the one who did the update)
Thank you for your insights.
Regards
Fred

Hello and welcome;

I'm not sure I understood everything... (screenshots could help...)
Have you tried with different display modes? (wired; hidden lines...)
Also look in the Solidworks options if you have allowed the creation of external references...

Kind regards.

I'm leaning towards the external ref permission as @Maclane (1 and 2) or even allow multiple contexts (n°3 in tools options):

Cf: SW2020 screenshot to be modified according to SW2024

Hello everyone
thank you for taking the time to answer me Maclane & Sbadenis
I will try to attach screenshots to you so that it is more understandable.
yes I tried with various modes (wired; hidden lines...)
But I can't select the entities I want.
I would look at Monday, in the Solidworks options.
Thank you for your help
Have a good weekend
Kind regards
Fred

Hello everyone
I checked in external references as you told me
Allow the creation of external references to the model was not checked.
Now I can create a new part in an assembly and above all put the desired relationships
Thank you for your help
Have a good day

Hello
My answer will not necessarily be directly related to the subject but to avoid this kind of mishap when switching from one version to another, you must do an installation on a " test " workstation in order to generate a configuration file on the new version identical to the previous version.
Edit: Remember to select the answer of @sbadenis as the best answer to your problem
