Reorient a view

With SW (any version)

I use "current model view" views quite often.

And of course, sometimes I would like to change the orientation.

Is this possible?

Hello

Yes, it is possible in 3D by updating the standard views:

you have to get normal on one side, in the orientation you want, and then

Click Update Standard tool_update_standard_views_orientation.gif Views on the views toolbar.

In your mep, there is the "3d drawing view" button

Click on it, select your view, and rotate it however you want.

Hello

 are you talking about MEP?

If this is the case, you open your part/assembly, orient it as you want, switch to your MEP, refresh your available views, and your "Current Model View" changes as you set it in your part/assembly. Sometimes it slows down a bit, you record your piece, you switch back to your MEP and it sets itself up.

On the other hand, you are forced to reintegrate your view from your view palette. If you want to keep the view you have already integrated, use the @Bart method which consists of orienting your view directly in the MEP, without going through your part/assembly file!

Personally, if there is an orientation that suits me for the drawing,

From the assembly I click on the space bar, the orientation menu opens

I'll click on new view and name this view.

In the drawing, I get the named view and that's it!!!

Another trick is to orient the part in the 3D, then click on "New View"

This is going to create a new view that you could select in your mep pane.

Edit: Flegendre was faster... I hadn't seen, sorry

Otherwise, you can also make a view relative to the model (Insertion/Drawing View/Relative to the model)

Hello

There's also this icon there.

@Fred, that's what I put in my first answer...

@Bart: this button (which I didn't know) is interesting. It's a shame that you can't make a precise orientation with the keys.

So I chose the Flegendre method.

I didn't think you could delete a view if it was used in a MEP.

Sorry Bart!!! A thousand apologies
