[RESOLVED] the macro module crashes solidworks, where does this problem come from?

Hello everyone,

I am new in the method office in a company, a position has been created for me with a brand new PC, solidworks version 2013 standard. I do a lot of room drawing and that's why I would like to start macro, it would take me a considerable amount of time.

The problem is that as soon as I want to record a macro, solidworks instantly  closes in error mode, whether I go through the toolbar or the red button "save macro" it's the same, it crashes without me being able to do anything,

Can you please help  me? why it crashes, and what can I do to fix it, does it come from SW's version?

Thank you in advance!

Hello

Is the installation of Solidworks felt? Try to repair the software to see if it works.

G.

Hello

Is there a particular message at the time of SW crashing?

Kind regards

stupid question to you exell?

Or Office Pack and which version?

@+ ;-)

I will answer in order:

Yes, it is recent, it dates from the beginning of December 2017.

I have the SP0 version, under windows 10 I specify.

There is no particular message, simply "SW has a problem and must close"

stupid answer;) Yes I have Excel in version 2016 and I can easily use the part families controlled by Excel

I add another clarification, the print panel for MEPs does not work, basically I cannot go to the printer property, I cannot choose A3 landscape or A3 portrait format, when I close this window with the "red cross" or by the "close" button the window closes only with the cross, but still print my mep... I don't know if it's related but it can be a lead.

In addition, I noticed in the meantime that the workgroup API is not installed, but that I don't have it in my list of programs either when I go to the config panel as indicated in the SW help to be able to install it precisely.

In the meantime, thank you for your help

First of all, SP0: not great to stay on SP0

Windows 10: start of compatibility with SW2015 SP5, see http://www.solidworks.fr/sw/support/SystemRequirements.html

Excel 2016, start of compatibility with SW2016 SP3, see http://www.solidworks.fr/sw/support/SystemRequirements.html

That's a lot of risk of malfunctioning.

Kind regards

And yes you don't have the right configurations to work with SW 2013

So as by our friend @ D.Roger

It's not surprising sorry

And at the same time, Solidworks 2013 needs the 3.5 Framework to work and it is not active by default on Windows 10 so it must be activated, see https://docs.microsoft.com/fr-fr/dotnet/framework/install/dotnet-35-windows-10.

This is not what will solve the problems related to  the compatibility of the different versions but it is always good to know.

Kind regards

thank you for your answers,

yes I didn't expect to have an SP0 version when I saw it, I suspected that that's where everything...

A piece of advice, activate the framework recommended by @d.roger, and download the SP5, it will always be that fact!!

Be careful, not sure that switching to a higher SP of SW2013 will solve all the problems, there are also the other points (SW2013 on Windows 10, SW2013 and version of Excel, version of the Framework, ...)

I see that you have passed the question in solved in the title but it would be good to close it by choosing the answer that allowed you to solve your problem and then click on the button "This answer solved my problem", to see how it works you can watch the explanatory video by going to "need help?" then "How do I create or follow questions on the Lynkoa forum?" :

This will make it easy for other members with the same problem to find the answer.
