Relink an assembly to a drawing

Hello

I work daily on CATIA V5  at work, but as part of a school project I have to use CREO (software that I don't master).

I would like to know if it was possible to restore the iien between a plane and an assembly? Indeed, I renamed my assembly (and deleted the old version) without doing the same with my drawing, so I open my drawing but it can't find the source file... (logical)

Can I link the drawing to the renamed assembly?

Thank you in advance for your answer

Good evening, there's probably the answer here:

It seems to me (and I'm taking a lot of gloves because it's been a while since I've used it) that you can't link a plane to 3D once the link is broken.

That's exactly why you have to go through the file menu "rename file" (or something like that) when you want to do this kind of thing. And, in any case, have the plan to open next door. I even wonder if you shouldn't rename the plan so that the link is kept with the assembly ... In short, it's not the easiest^^

I'll give you PTC's help on the matter. Point 7 among others could help you in your worries ... even if I'm afraid you'll have to start the process from the beginning.

The "about" at the bottom of the page can also help you to see how it works

Yes, it is possible.

1 - You try to open the plan, it will put a message and you write down the name of the assembly that it can't find

2 - You rename the assembly with this name

3 - You open the drawing and it's good

To rename the assembly without any problems:

1 - You open the assembly

2 - You open the drawing

3 - You rename the assembly

4 - Optional: You rename the drawing with the same name as the assembly

(There are quite a few advantages of having the names of the drawings identical to the parts or assemblies, when copying)

5 - You save the assembly AND the drawing

@s.b I thought I had missed all this time a simple solution, you scared me. (in the kind of solidworks and you point to the new assembly and it's good).

In fact, you go back to the original name and then you do the name change again without forgetting to open the plan this time^^

@coin37coin, Yes, that's a good summary.

I just described all the steps
