Rolling

Hello, I want to roll a sheet metal with solidworks (SW2015) my goal is to insert a hole on a sheet metal and then roll it.

This will allow me to get the true shape of my hole after passing the sheet metal through the bending machine.

This shape is important for the rest of the design.

Hello

Already a lot of questions on the subject, you should be able to find what you are looking for:

Hello

you have to create the ferrule in sheet metal then select a plane in the part or in the assembly and draw the sketch with the Ø you want to remove and do a normal material removal and there you will get the development of your ferrule with the removal, for my part I add 1mm to the Ø to compensate for the defect of the tube or other possible variation.

1 - Create the ferrule in volume

2 - Tools -> sheet metal -> plies and select the edge (and not a plane because there is none...)

3 - assemble the end of the part before unfolding

4 - Add the holes

5 - Descend the end of the piece

That's it... (made in SW 2014)

I think my question was not well asked. I want to create my rolled tube like in real life. I order a laser with a cylindrical cut, then I roll my sheet metal. We do this internally in my company. What differs from solid is that the hole after rolling is no longer cylindrical but elliptical. It is this form that I must obtain. Rolling by taking an unclosed cylindrical sketch and adding a hole afterwards, I know how to do it. This is true when you actually drill a tube that has already been rolled.

Ok you do the same thing and then you create a sketch on the bottom of the ferrule and re-close it by making an extrusion. You will have your tube closed with the removal of normal material like a ferrule and then you make it a STEP. That's how I proceed when I make parts for laser tube ordering. It works well and I've never had a problem with the subcontractors and the prod.

Why not create the rolled sheet metal, and then do a normal material removal to get the hole directly deformed?

Make a rolled sheet metal, then you use the Unfolded sheet metal function, you do your cylindrical material removal and then you use the Folded sheet metal function.

And your drilling will be eliminated as after rolling the cylindrical drilling

Look at my tutorial but do the right thing before re-working the folded sheet metal:

If you have to have a through-hole tap it won't work because in your press you should have an ellipse and not an Ø. If you look at it, your hole is not round like that.

And for my 2 answers before I had understood that you wanted to order in laser tube....
