Selecting a Sketch Behind a Sketch

Hi all

context:
I am in an assembly composed of a " ROUTING " sketch that serves as a skeleton for the assembly.
I've constrained different components on this sketch and I would like to connect those components with a tube.
I create a tube piece.
I edit it in context and make a 3D sketch connecting to the components.
I create a " mechanically welded element" function and I want to select the sketch of my tube part... EXCEPT THAT HE SELECTS THE ROUTING SKETCH FOR ME!

I tried:

  • to hide the routing sketch ==> it works
  • to " select other " ==> it works

The thing is that I'm wasting time and I don't remember having the problem in the past: I was able to select the sketch of the tube directly through the sketch routing...

Would that be an option?

Hello

If I understand correctly, the "routing" sketch is only used to position certain elements, so nothing is built with it?
Why not try to change it to "for construction"?
Normally, it will no longer be selectable to create mechanically welded elements but still active to pose stresses.

Have a nice day.

Hello

An alternative to @a.eriaud's solution is to perform the scanning function in the open room next to it and not in the context of the assembly.
At least it's clear and easy (but it's a bit longer than doing everything in context)

Hello
You can hide the sketch :)see the little eye in the middle of the screen, it doesn't take time

Well thought out @a.Eriaud !
unfortunately it doesn't work...

@froussel
I think I'll go for this solution in the meantime.
It will be at least a little faster than my current method

@Lynkoa15
unfortunately it also hides the sketch that interests me...

If I uncheck the system option (selection > enable the selection by transparency) I find the same behavior of your sw @twathle

When editing a component in context, you can see this toolbar:

By enabling No External References, the Routing sketch can (normally) no longer be selected. But it will be a problem upstream to link the ends.

The other option is to isolate the component when editing in context.

Hi all!
Unfortunately, none of the proposed solutions work.
While waiting for something better, I would follow @froussel's advice who suggested opening the room separately.

I remain open to new ideas!
Thank you

Hello

On the off chance that you create a part in the assembly by making a new part
image and then you do according to your need. If I understood the problem.

Hello

If you right-click on the 2 sketches, you have a window that opens, and you have a select other icon (here at the bottom left)

You then have the list of selectable items under your cursor,
Here the different sketches and lines

@joris
I knew this trick.
but it's not as fast as what I could do before...

Today, the sketch taken into account by default is the "skeleton" sketch of the assembly.
Whereas before the sketch that I could select was the sketch in the room that I was editing in context.
