Separation of one part into two

Hi all!
New on the forum, I searched a little but couldn't find the answer to my question.

Let me explain my problem. I designed a horizontal empennage for an aircraft under CATIA V5R21 (i.e. fixed part + moving part including spars, ribs, salmon, stabilizer rotation rod, etc.). I'd like to represent the movement of the moving part in relation to the fixed part by doing kinematics. However, in order to do this, I feel like I have to have these two separate parts. However, in my case, I only have ONE share comprising these two parts :/

How do you split, if possible, the stabilizer in two by choosing the pieces one by one?

Hoping I have been clear and precise enough^^

Thanks in advance!

Vince

PS: It's a bit of a mess in my tree structure and with the family links between the different elements I can't move them.

Hello

Not knowing too much about CATIA, but I think it should be possible by making configurations of your part with your two parts and then making an assembly.

If you have a slice to cut into 2 parts

makes a copy or 2

in the first one you keep element 1

and delete the other one you give it a name

and the same in the 2nd copy except that there you delete element 1

Great, it just does. Thank you:)

Perfect, all that's left to do is close the post by selecting the best answer.
