Hello everyone, I got some issue Im having, I got two part of sheet metal, which is left and right side. right side part is a mirrored part from left. When I do SheetMetalManufaturing It will generate out only 1 part file, if I select group identical bodies, Ive attached my export option.
If I untick the group identical body, show two file which is the left and right side.
my question is can this tool detect my mirror part so that it will generate 2 file because its not identical.
FED-PA3R.SLDPRT (1.1 MB)
FED-PA3L.SLDPRT (1.3 MB)
Thanks
Hello and welcome to the forum.
I've had this problem before.
In fact, solidworks doesn't see any difference between two mirrored parts even if the reference faces are different! When unfolded, the volumes are identical.
To force the difference, I add a small chamfer (0.1mm) on a corner of one of the two pieces. This allows solidworks to distinguish between the two parts.
Good luck...

Thanks for your reply! I understand your workaround with the 0.1 mm chamfer to force SOLIDWORKS to see the mirrored body as different.
I just want to check with you — is there any other way to handle this issue? For example, is it a limitation directly from SOLIDWORKS itself, or could it also be related to how MyCADTools manages the “group identical bodies” option during export?
I’m trying to figure out what’s the best and most reliable solution, because I’d prefer not to modify the actual geometry if possible.
Hello
Indeed, we should try by removing the " group identical bodies" option.
I never use it...
In your example, you have two parts in two separate files. This should work, MyCADTools should not bundle.
For my part, I work a lot in " multiple bodies", so I often use this trick (of the small chamfer) because for solidworks the elements would be identical.
Hi,
Yes it does works. I try untick the group identical body it can be done. Thanks
