Smartproperties properties coast

Hi all

I have a question about SmartProperties and the use of the " Cote " property.

I use this tool to retrieve the external dimensions of my parts:

This works fine, but the property saves the value of the dimension, whereas I'd prefer it to show the associated function.

Current Result:

Desired objective:

I know it's possible, some of my colleagues are getting this result.
Unfortunately, we can't reproduce this behavior on my installation.

Here are the tests I performed:

  1. Use of their SmartProperties mask.
  2. Installing the 2023 SP1 version (same as theirs).

For the moment, I haven't been able to find the solution.
Do you have an idea to solve this problem?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hugo

Look at the version of the Mycadtools utility.
On the last 2024 SP2.1 it works, but on the 2 or 3 previous ones there was a bug on this point.

To check the version in the MyCad toolbar, click on the wheel in 1 and then on about in 2.
The version is shown towards the top left.

Thank you for your answer, sbadenis.

I just installed the latest 2024 SP2.1 version, but unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem.
I think we can rule out the possibility that it is related to the version.

I would rather lean towards a problem with the configuration of SmartProperties.

For information, I'm on SolidWorks 2020.

Another idea to help me move forward?

Thanks in advance!

Hugo

I find it surprising that there is no configuration on this point, which I have been using for a long time.
On the other hand, it's certain that there was a bug on the previous versions (I had made a ticket with the hotline).
Did you delete the rating and then repoint to your rating and revalidate the Smartproperties to check.
Or else a new piece to see, or exclude a lead.
FYI here are the options for a coastal property:

I did the test using both an old part and a new one:

  • Removed all SolidWorks properties.
  • Validation again with SmartProperties.

Unfortunately, the result remains the same.

Here are the dimension settings I'm currently using:

I recreated a rating property as a new variable, the result remains the same

And did you look in the file property?
And your coast DIM_1Longueur it points to what, the coast is updating well?
The only explanation for me following a hotline conversation, is a bug because for me no settings on this point, the normal behavior is to have the value of text expression with a value like " D1@..."  and not a value.

Hello
You say in your first message that your colleagues don't have this problem.
Is your SmartProperties file on your network?
Are you sure that your configuration points to the same file?

I retrieve the values of the double click on the part as my colleagues do

And on the property file, always the numerical values

Hello Le_Bidule,

Indeed, some of my colleagues do not have this problem.
We use a common property mask, and everyone uses it locally on their PC.

It is possible that some will change their masks.
So I asked them to share it again, so that I could crush mine.

But no change :person_shrugging:

After re-installing the latest version, have you looked in tools, complement, if it's the latest version that launches? (And not the old version)

It seems to be the case

And I am forced to uninstall the old version of mycadtools to install the new one.

I don't know if there are any other fragments of the old version.
When in doubt, I restart my PC

Indeed, you should always uninstall the old version before installing another.

Not necessarily, some versions allowed cohabitation (even if not recommended)
And for the new version since Sp2 I think it automatically replaces the previous one.
Hence my request just in case.
But indeed it seems to be the only version so if it shows you 2.1 no reason other than a bug for it not to work. (in theory!)
I think you'll be able to go through the ticket box with the hotline (and give us feedback if possible). I don't see who could explain this.
Unless otherwise opinioned, of course!

Hello;
Check the options of the " Rating type " in Smartproperties: ‹ ‹ Show button to edit text › ›

Hello Maclane,

I discovered this option yesterday, by following the link you just presented.
I understand its usefulness but I don't see a link with my problem

It allows me to change the text value/expression checkbox of my Solidworks properties

Is there an option I don't see?

… Sorry, I got a little carried away with the screenshots presented in the help...

We use the " Rating " option of smartproperties on our workstations:
And it is indeed " the " path " of the coast " that appears in our Properties (is not the text of the coast)...

… From what I see, only the " Configuration " setting differs between our captures:

… it seems that you have chosen " Document + all configs " while I am content to use the settings of the input mask...
It is not impossible that it comes from there... with the 2024 tools, SmartProperties spins a bad cotton with the configurations... To be tested.

Subsidiary question: you say you shared your input masks with one of your colleagues... Have you thought about sharing options/settings (Smartproperties) too?

I found it!!!

The problem comes from my personal settings on the unit

As noted, if a check box is checked, the link to the document is lost.
So, just recreate the link by unchecking.
And that's it, it works.

Thank you all for your help

Thank you for the feedback, indeed I wouldn't have thought of it.
