Solidworks - Flattening a Tube

Hi everyone!

Small request for info on SW (>2012) and the round tube crushing.

How do you proceed on SW to build the crushed end cap?

Below are 3 different examples.

Thanks in advance!

Hello

There is a stamped tool in SolidWorks:

http://help.solidworks.com/2013/French/SolidWorks/sldworks/c_Indents_Folder.htm?id=d526651aa8ee49068f67994991727e4e

But not tested on tubes indeed, and I'm afraid it won't work!

A few tips: do not use fused parts, do not make a stamping too close to an edge (at worst make a cut a posteriori), choose a point of the stamped tool furthest from the body

Spring:

"Trick I used was  (1) don'tuse merged parts, (2) keep away from the edge of the part, (3) picka point on the tool that is farthest away from body"

Hello.

By smoothing. See attached example.

It's not perfect, but it's self-explanatory!

@ Benoit I just looked at your piece

and this is quite telling for the demand

so our friend should be able to go out without too much problem

with these 2 files

Just adjust the dimensions and profiles

Thank you for your answers. These confirm my way of doing > by smoothing.

The problem is that the tube is not hollow. This can distort the mass. The case option is not usable in these cases.

For the stamping, I'll see even if I doubt about the tube.
