Hello
I'm looking to add a column to my BOM with the name of the parent assembly of my parts. I can't find what I'm looking for in the drop-down lists
Does basic SW have this option? Should it be created with smartproperties
If anyone has already had this need, I'm looking for advice and/or information.
Have a nice day
Hello
I don't think this is possible: imagine if a part appears in several different S/E (typically a screw), what should SW display?

Very very good remark, yes there would probably be a little cleaning to do, in my case the screws have a "SCREWS" property which would probably be a solution to extract it. In short, it's not a big deal.
Thank you very much to you
If you really have this kind of need, you have to install an EPDM type tool (or do a search via a right click solidworks/replace tool but it's going to be a pain).
Note that a search for use cases is only valid at the moment T (you don't know where your part will be used in 3 months or 6 years)

My projects are all oneshots. No proprietary product. So no need for the reuse of previously designed parts, otherwise packngo. Since SW knows how to recognize the parts that make up an assembly, I thought that in the other direction it should be possible easily, but only in the project concerned.
Excludes of course the screws + some mechanical accs not evolving. Note that I don't use other library pieces.
It's not a blocking subject for us
In any case, thank you
