I have a problem on SW simulation with the assembly of a beam with a gusset. Indeed, I find concentrations of constraints in my gussets. These concentrations are found at the junction with the section of a beam (see PJ). I did the test of taking the gusset out of the area of the beam section and the stress disappears.
Can we adjust the mesh of a beam so that we no longer have these stress concentrations?
Yes you can adjust the size of the global mesh or add a "mesh control" on the elements that require it.
On the other hand your gusset and in volume? hull?
What is the actual profile of your beams?
Have you defined the contacts between beam and gusset?
This kind of study with a mixed mesh and complex to implement, you have to be rigorous. Check that you don't have any material interference between the different bodies (e.g. if your gusset arrives on a cylindrical beam, how did you define it? just a contact line? don't the material of the gusset and the beam overlap?
If I'm not mistaken, the mesh size or mesh control only applies on volume bodies. For my beams which are in 80x6 square tube, I don't think we can change the size of the mesh since the beams on SW are cut into sections.
For the gussets, I defined them as a shell and I made a contact between the 2 beams that surround the gusset.
