Symmetry of a part

Hello

I have just created a somewhat complex part (several extrusions and material removals), it is the straight part. Now I need to draw the left piece, do we have a simple solution to make it? Otherwise I'm going to copy this part, and take each of the functions and reposition the sketches.

Thank you for your valuable advice

Hello

There is a very simple solution!

From your original part (the right), press Insert/Symmetrical Part.

A new part opens with a dialog box in the Feature Manager. Select what you want to recover and validate.

You have your symmetrical part linked to the original one. Any evolution of the right piece will be found on the left one.

Don't forget to select a face before inserting a part!

Exact @.PL, and a reference plane rather than a face!

Additional info: If it's sheet metal, you have to have a face and a plan. And copy of body.

Hello

@benoit.lf and @pl gave the method for creating a new piece.

If you want to create a symmetrical configuration of the said part, you have to follow these steps:

view1-create the part and put it in an assembly (here, I created a virtual part in an assembly)

view2-mirroring the assembly by selecting a reference face and the part and -->

view3-select 'create symmetrical version then -->

view4-select 'create a new derived configuration...) then -->

view5-no need to select what you want to copy in the symmetrical part since it is in fact the same part and you validate

view6-we see the 'Function Symmetrical Components' folder in the original part, we can use the symmetrical part by activating the derived configuration 'DefaultSymmetry'

Have a nice day.

Excellent @FLOP1, I think this solution is not very well known by users. Am I wrong? ;-)

Hello

The @FLOP1 method is the one we use.

Even if in most cases we prefer to redraw symmetrical parts because their drawing is often more difficult and they no longer have any connection.

Then we can check the symmetry with the "Evaluate" and "Check symmetry" function.

@Flop1 Good for a tutorial with the pdf the view in the right way;)

+1 for the first flop1 tutorial!

=)

That's it, it's done, I've created the tutorial.

it's HERE

@flop1 sorry can't see

There was no 404 CMS page configured or found.

Hello

Thank you for your solutions, but I'll come back to the 1st proposal: Insertion/Symmetrical part. I can't find this function, in the insert menu I have repetition system or part. Not the symmetrical part function.

Please specify.

Hello

which version of SW is it?

I solved my problem, it was simply to select the face or a reference geometry before doing the insertion. Thank you for all the answers.
