Automatic revision table with PDM std/pro

According to a suggestion from .PL, I ask the question of the management of revision tables via PDM (std or pro - there doesn't seem to be any difference on this point).

Workgroup automatically populates and updates revision tables on plans: simply check the options that work well in the Workgroup Administration Utility and in SolidWorks to enable this feature. PDM Std doesn't do it apparently, or I missed an episode (and my trainer too because he confirmed the info to me).

Therefore, he asks the question: "is the presence of the revision table essential?"

If so, did I actually miss an episode and there is the same functionality in PDM as in Workgroup? Or do you have one or more tips for retrieving the information needed to populate a revision table, which is limited to the last three revisions?

In my opinion, this requires the creation of variables to list the information of the current revision (Rev) and those of the 2 previous revisions (Rev-1 and Rev-2); the same goes for the comments of these 3 revisions (NoteRev, NoteRev-1 and NoteRev-2). And then, the creation of rules so that with each new revision, the cascade of information from one variable to another takes place.

So there you have it, what interests me is information on how to manage a revision table automatically and/or arguments to do without it (or not).

A first argument in favor of keeping the revision table on a plan: the fact that the customers and/or suppliers, to whom the said plans are distributed, may be just as interested as we are in a history of changes, and they do not have access to the PDM.

Thank you in advance for your contributions!

Thanks to .PL for the answers.

It would have been cool to choose my answer as the best or if you didn't have enough precision, to explain where you're stuck.
