Tasks in PDM Administration

Hello

We use tasks in SolidWorks PDM administration.

we would like to have the tasks run on PCs or on the server

we figured out how to add the PCs and the tasks run on them

On the other hand, pb for the server, the tasks do not execute on it.

On the server there is no blue ball at the bottom around the time to check that it is allowed.

What do you think? Is it possible to do it ? Can you tell us how to install this blue ball?

thank you in advance for your answers

Hello

Make sure you have installed PDM on the pcs or the server
Make sure you are connected to it (with us we are connected as an admin on the job generation machine)

Then in the tasks, in the methods of execution,
Select let the system choose computers...
And check the pc/server you want

If nothing launches, on the server, you may have to restart the services
Windows > Search > Services

Select the "SOLIDWORKS PDM Database Server" row
Then on Restart the service (on the left)

Hoping to help you;)

Edit:

Also, make sure that the task host configuration is checked
You must have an account with administrator rights to make the change

Perfect, thank you for your answer.

We managed to get the task running on the server. we had to check the SW task add-in box.

I have one question left - I close the windows session on the server as a result PDM closes.

Would it be possible to install it in service mode so that it runs permanently?

So, with us, the auto tasks are done on the SQL server for PDM
I guess it's a windows server installed on it.

To take control of the PC, we use the remote desktop connection,
And when you don't need to be on the SQL desktop anymore, you just close the remote connection tool.
The session is automatically locked (a few minutes later), but the tasks are still processed the following days

If that doesn't work,
Maybe we need to see if the lock can be avoided in the windows settings
Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to help you anymore

Hello

In order for the tasks to run, a Windows session must be open and the computer turned on. There is no other option.

Have a good weekend.

Hello

We run our publications on a workstation dedicated to this task.

3 modes of publication are possible see PJ :

- Let the system choose the computers

- Ask the user to choose a position

- Run on the computer  where the task was initiated

We use the let  the system choose the computers , we have to check only one computer that supports the task (See PJ)

In order for the tasks to run, a Windows session must be open and the computer turned on.

Solidworks and EPDM started

Our  task station automatically restarts on its own every morning, a macro starts EPDM and Solidworks when the station starts
