Hello everyone, I have designed a square tube coffee table structure. The structure is a simple curved tube. And I'd like to know the development of the tube before bending.
The tube was created from a 3D sketch where I defined a curve representing the neutral fiber of the tube. A normal sketch at the end of the curve and a sweep to extrude the tube.
Do I have to go through the sheet metal module? If I want it to be consistent, I have to define my bending radii according to what the bending machine can do or do I go for a K-factor or loss at the crease? Thank you for your feedback
As ac cobra specifies, it is the neutral fiber that will determine the development. For the bending radius, it seems to me that it's 120 minimum! To be confirmed with the bending specialists.
I'm joining @ac cobra 427, otherwise you can do it in "welded constructions" and SW will give you all the useful information.
At home, the guys in the workshop always put a few cm more to be able to cut to length once fitted. There is always a bit of a gap between theory and practice.
I have a problem starting from my neutral fiber (3D sketch) he doesn't want to create a sheet metal part, he asks me for a plan, while I have a 3-dimensional line. And if I start by declaring a sheet metal part, it doesn't offer a 3D sketch;(
