Polygon sheet metal

Hello

I have to model a rolled sheet metal made by crunching.

So I draw my profile with a polygon that I cut to form a semicircle.

The problem is that my semicircle is 215mm radius and I would like my folds to be about 10mm long.

I notice that the polygon function only accepts 40 sides no more.... I will need twice as much.

Do you have an idea?

Hi Bart, with a symmetry in the middle? That way you model your part and then you symmetrize it!

It's Aurelin sheet metal, so if I do a symmetry, the folds won't merge....

However, by doing symmetry on sheet metal, my piece is well merged me (and I'm in 2011. So you should have it too)

If you made a transition crease.

Thank you for your answers, but how do you manage to have several 10mm lines following a semicircle?

I can't read your play Remrem, I'm in 2014 version.

The problem I have is how to model these small 10mm lines following my arc

It's just the talent Bart

This is what I manage to get (see image)

I have 30mm folds with 20 strokes that I made with a polygon (Sw only takes 40 faces max)

I would like the same thing with 10mm folds and therefore more strokes.

@Coincoin: Can you get 40 veneers of 10mm?

@Remrem: I only count 20 facets on your piece... Your folds should not be 10mm

Hats off @remrem, simple, effective!

I don't know if @remrem'll come back so I'll answer you @Bart:

Look at the image of the transition crease feature. It's from 2015 like @remrem. Let's see if you have the same options for 2014.

Edit, the 2 sketches are identical, an arc of a circle of R=125mm (a single entity, not split)

I created a sketch on my front plane: a simple 215mm semicircle

Then I create a second sketch on an offset plane: identical to the first one by converting the entities

Finally, I use the transition crease function. This way you can adjust the parameters to get the number of segments you want

Why don't you make an arc of a circle at the right length, but in a construction line.

Then you glue a 10mm line in coincidence with the circle at each of its ends.

Then you do a circular repetition of a sketch of this line.

I will even add to complete @coin37coin that the angle of your portion should be 4.5° (180/40):)

I'm trying to make my most transition, but it's not working.

I followed Remrem's approach but it doesn't work (see image)

@Coincoin, that's what I want to do, but how do I get there?!

Be careful, my radius is 215 so diameter 430 ;)

For the transition plui, OK

But I can't adjust the length of the segment...

Do I have to look for it manually?

I can model my part by checking the "Rectilinear tolerance" box minimum 0.5mm but my folds are 28mm...

@Bart, you can't seem to click here:

[EDIT] Oops, I misread your penultimate post!

Yes, but when I enter my valuer, the function cannot be validated.

Have you tried my part with my settings?

Han this scam. You had sold me a dream with the transition fold.... but I don't have all your options with 2011:(

@Bart, that's a bit of a problem with my method. It's not innate. As @Aurelien pointed out, it will have to be calculated. :s
