Translating a drawing

Hello

I have to translate a drawing with notes and a nomenclature into a table.

I want to keep the French version for our production.

I looked at the Drawing Translate utility but I can't activate in the Options "Create a new note by language". But I'm not sure if it's the right utility because when activating the module, the drawing skips.

So I think the easiest solution is to create an English layer, for example, and add a note. The problem is that I have to redo the entire presentation of my plan. I had thought of creating a block with several notes and several layers. This might help because by clicking on a block we have access to all languages. But a priori this is not possible.

Do you have any feedback?

Thank you

Sylvain

P.S.: I've given you an example of a plan to translate.

Hello

The Create a new note by language option allows you to create a layer for each language!

Why can't you activate it? What do you mean by "jump"?

Otherwise you can also "create a new sheet per language", to keep your original document.

The 2 options you are talking to me about are greyed out.

I'll put you a screenshot.

When I talk about skipping presentation, the font changes and the multi-line notas go on a single line.

Are the options still greyed out?

Closes and restarts the utility, then tries to choose only one drawing, or even none at all (all SolidWorks files closed). Is it still grey?

Open a single file, is it the same?

"Are the options still greyed out?" -> Yes always greyed out

"Close and restart the utility, then try to choose only one drawing"  -> Yes

"or even none (all SolidWorks files closed)." -> Yes

"Open a single file, is it the same?"  -> Yes still greyed out and Thank you ;o)

Otherwise there are other solutions without the utility?

I think you can open a call to the MyCADServices hotline if you have a subscription, I don't really know what else to say, unless a specialist has an idea!

Alternatives:

- Translate by hand!

- Write a macro that will translate, but in the same way as DrawingTranslate you need a glossary!

- Save the drawing as a PDF and use a software like the one in this link:

http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/translate-pdf-word-documents-online-google-translate/3553/

Or one of those: http://goo.gl/cZL1fB

Stupid question, but why not make a copy of the drawing with an "English" suffix for example, and then translate note by note manually with a translator?

Edit: Or said it @PL., convert it to pdf or other to translate it into automatic via a third party software.

Hello

I would be interested in the return to the mycadtools translate utility. Personally, he never finds me anything to translate.

What I did is made background plans in English version but I still have the notes to translate (as said @bart google translate)

Hello

I will come back to give you my conclusions.

1)    @ .PL: thank you for your help.

Regarding the "Create a new note by language" option, it is automatically greyed out when the "Annotation filter" option -> "Take into account blocks" is activated. So, it must be deactivated ;o).

Regarding the translation of the pdf. It's a solution but I didn't hold it back. Because I have nomenclatures that are informed by the properties of the parts. I just need to add a translation field in the part property and all my BOMs translate the same way.

2)    @ Bart: The idea of copying MeP is good but if I modify one I have to modify the other MeP. So there is a risk of forgetting and error. So not great. Thanks for the idea ;o).

3)    @ SEPM. Gerald: Let's say that you have to enrich the dictionary as you go along. But when he can't find the translation, he creates the note for you with the right layer and the title "no translation". So all that remains is to translate.

In my case, the best solution is to create a "Language" layer, add the "Language" field in the part property so that the NMC updates "automatically". And for notas, used the Drawing Translate utility.

Thank you for your help.
