I'm going to ask a question that will make more than one smile I think. I ask it without conviction as to the answer, I haven't believed in Santa Claus for a long time.
I have an assembly model built under creo 5.0. My client wants native CAtia V5. I have Catia V5 on a station. Does anyone know a technique that can, from my native CREO 5, make native CAITA V5?
I also have solidworks and when you import step or iges into solidworks, it tries with more or less success a recognition of the functions. So I think that if CATIA could do the same thing...
Hello, I guess your client wants a V5 build history? If your project doesn't have too many design surfaces or a stripped face. The module to be used for function recognition is FR1 (part design features recognition). On mechanical parts it's useful, on shapes that are too square or have a lot of intersections it doesn't go as well.
The most complete solution for converting models with build history is Proficiency. Proficiency has been around for over 15 years and function-by-function validation and detailed reporting are its strengths.
These solutions require a significant investment, even in the form of a service, and their profitability is only possible for large volumes or complex models.
The build history is lost when converting via STEP or IGES format. There is no retro engeniering tool in Catia V5. The solution via SolidWorks is not possible because it would be necessary to be able to convert the SolidWorks model to Catia V5 with history. Which is also not possible without a tool like Proficiency.
