Sorted BOM

Hello

If there's one thing that makes me pull my hair out in solidworks, it's the sorting of the nomenclature, it's as obscure as the meaning of life.

When I ask a software as reputable as SolidWorks to sort against a column as a designation for example I expect something to happen, or is it too much to ask (no I'm not annoyed).

Attached is the sorting window and my nomenclature, can someone explain to me why nothing happens? I mean that when I put down a nomenclature and ask for a sorting, nothing happens. I wanted to test by adding a designation to "help" a little bit this software from hell but ... nothing. The TUBE CARRE doesn't come together, like everything else. And I've already had problems on other cases where the nomenclature to re-sort the parts between 2 prints and the numbers had changed.

Pitier, give me something to tick off from the depths of options, I didn't know.

I tried SmartBom but the general table that created it's not practical.

Hello

On SW 2020, no problem with sorting so it's difficult to reproduce your problem. And, although it doesn't change anything for me, is the "automatic BOM update" option checked?

As for changing sorting, perhaps see by checking the "save current sorting settings" option in the sorting dialog.

Update check for me too

I want to save the sorting parameters but if the nomenclature is not already sorted it won't be useful to me

but thank you all the same

Hello

I think it comes from the type of nomenclature that combines parts and body.
SW first sorts the parts and then, within the parts, the bodies.

Whether I mount the bill of materials on an assembly or a part, it's the same thing.

I broke down the part and all its sort as in the welded parts list.

I tried in another case to compose several parts especially and sorting to follow the order of assembly and all its recompose sort as in the list of welded parts too!!

The manipulation seems to me a big stroke of luck because it is so twisted. I stay on my guard and put my question on solved

This is perfectly logical and is in line with my previous remark.
By breaking down the parts, the bodies end up at the first level of sorting
