Using PDM 2024 with Solidworks 2022

Hello
It is possible to install PDM2024 while keeping SolidWorks 2022.
Have some of you done it? If so, have you noticed any particular problems or behaviors?
Thank you
Thierry

Hello

Yes -from memory- it is possible to install a pdm with up to 2 versions of maximum deviation.
Please note that the license manager must be updated to the 2024 version.

If a pdm user used to the forum could confirm my words, so that @tlecampion be sure before starting the installation...

Hello;

Although I do not use PDM, given my experience with Dassault and related tools, I will avoid, as much as possible, associating two different versions for software as intertwined as Solidworks and its PDM can be.
But as @Silver_Surfer says, it is best to wait for the opinion of a user who has tested this type of configuration...

For PDM, Dassault is testing and announcing compatibility for 2 previous versions of SW CAD. This is related to the upgrade tool.
Following this info, I looked in the help and indeed:
SOLIDWORKS File Upgrade - 2024 - SOLIDWORKS PDM Help

I have yet to find a document where it explicitly says that PDM 2024 is tested and fully supported for use with SOLIDWORKS 2024, 2023 and 2022...

Hello

These are the demands of DS. On the other hand, personally I won't trust it (given the countless SW bugs) and the consultant who does our version upgrades has always advised us against it.
Major release with the same PDM version, less risk of problems.

Hello @Silver_Surfer,
I have had confirmation from Visiativ that the use of PDM 2024 and Solidworks 2022 is possible and that technical support is still provided. This is the maximum limit of the difference between possible products.
When installing a new major version of SW without an upgrade, a warning message is displayed mentioning the supported version deviation.
The SW add-ins are also to be updated in PDM 2024. For access to the vault, if there is no change of server, there is no need to redo the views.

Be careful, Visiativ had given me the same answer for Solidworks 2022 with Visualize 2024... and there the risks were considerably less important than with PDM...
Result:
Well no, in the end, it's not compatible, even in download mode, for these two products.
=> In my case, it was just a waste of time to uninstall and reinstall Visualize.
Regarding the complements, those of Visiativ should hold up (except for their bugs), do you have any other (complements)?

Having two different versions seems to me equivalent to adding bullets to the revolver with which you play Russian roulette (all things considered).

It's not always easy with synchronous versions... but I imagine you have your reasons...

Hello

When upgrading Solidworks PDM, the view will effectively turn into a folder and then become a vault view again once the application is upgraded.
Personally, I would still recommend removing the vault view to purge the local cache of users (it never hurts to start again on a healthy basis) and to reinstall it afterwards (the administrative image generation tool allows you to do this since 2024).
Remember to archive everything during the upgrade no matter what.
