Utility - UpdateVersion

Hello

Is there a utility that allows the conversion of SW files to the 2014 version (similar to UpdateVersion 2013 available in the utilities)?

Does anyone have any feedback on this utility? Our files are stored on a dedicated SW server in the form of a Windows tree (no vault). I would like to know if there is no risk of data loss, bug...

Thank you

Hello

I believe the utility exists, but it is not available on Lynkoa indeed.

You can apply on the website: www.mycadservices.com

Regarding the use, it's very simple, there is a log file that indicates if some files have failed, but in any case, it is absolutely necessary to make a backup copy of all the files on the server!!

The utilities are even available for SolidWorks 2015, as shown in the link below, so no problem for the 2014!

And do a test beforehand on a single server folder for example!

Thanks for the info.

I think we're going to do a test.

For your information, the conversion of files to a new version of SolidWorks can be done without this utility, only with SolidWorks thanks to the task scheduler:

OR a short tutorial in English:

Just for my culture, what's the point of converting files to a new version?

@stefbeno, it allows you to open documents more quickly.

This is noticeable when changing the version, when the files are still all in the previous version. There is a conversion time for each file.

A few years ago I did a test, and the opening time was more than doubled (from memory I opened a 2007 assembly with all the parts in 2007 from a SW 2008).

And you lose even more time if the files you open are not read-only, because all the parts are re-saved in the new version. Using the UpDate version, or the other solution proposed, allows you to do it in hidden time.

That's :)
